Gabapentin (Neurontin) is an anticonvulsant and analgesic used for postherpetic neuralgia, partial seizures, and off-label for neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, anxiety, and alcohol withdrawal.
It works by modulating voltage-gated calcium channels, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters. Dose must be titrated up slowly to minimize dizziness and sedation.
