Albuterol (salbutamol) is a short-acting beta-2 agonist (SABA) bronchodilator used for the rapid relief of bronchospasm in asthma, COPD, and exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. It acts within 5 minutes and lasts 4–6 hours.

Available as an inhaler (MDI), nebulizer solution, and oral tablet, albuterol is the most widely used rescue inhaler in the world and is on the WHO Essential Medicines List.
